Lycris Byrne Tank-in-Tank (Buffer Tank)

It is a straightforward procedure to replace a pre-existing hot & cold domestic water system with a Lycris-Byrne glass-lined steel hot water storage cylinder featuring a fully-automatic, stainless steel, silent pressuring pump.

The system eliminates the need for electric power showers and the system can be expanded at a later stage (another bathroom) without any further changes to the pump or cylinder, as both hot and cold water are permanently pressurised.

The changeover, from a flow to a pressurised flow, can be achieved in less than a day. These cylinders can be used in place of the traditional copper hot water cylinder, using standard B.S.P. connections.

  • The SISS upright solar storage tank combines a heat buffer storage tank with a service water storage tank.
  • Each 550, 750, 900 or 1100-litre heat buffer storage tank with black vanishing has a sealed-in 150, 200 or 250-litre service water tank with DIN 4753-compliant enamelling.
  • A large-surface, high-performanace bare-tube heat exchanger (2 to 3.45m2) is sealed directly into the buffer storage tank to ensure the most efficient heat transfer.
  • Variable sensor positioning possible by means of 2 sensor tubes.
  • A wide variety of heat sources (heat boiler, collector, heat-pump, tiled stoves) can be connected without problems.
  • Heat insulation: 100mm soft foam with plastic outer jacket in silver-grey.
  • A reconnectable flange immersion heater with 7.5/5/2.5 kW can be mounted in the service water storage tank from above.
  • Drained via a cold water pipe.
  • Operating temperatures: max. 95°C for service water and heat buffer storage tanks, max 110° for heat exchanger
  • The SISS can be connected to a variety of heating devices such as a radiator or floor heating system.
  • Acessories: AS active layering system EBH-SISS immersion heater.

The Lycris-Byrne Tank-in-Tank is a hot water cylinder inside a geothermal collector/buffer tank combining the two functions into a single storage unit.

The glass lined stell inner tank has an operating pressure of 6 bar.

The outer buffer tank has an operating pressure of 3 bar and may be connected to the heat sources listed below:-

  • Heat Pump
  • Gas or Oil Boiler
  • Solar Panels
  • Pellet Burning Stove
  • Wood Chip Stove
  • Solid Fuel Stove

An electric immersion heater may be installed into the inner tank which can be fed from electric mains, wind turbine or photovoltaic cell.
A separate 100 mm foam insulation jacket ensures minimum heat loss.
