Copper Cylinders

Range

The copper cylinders range in size from 1 gallon to 300 gallon capacity and from 1 bar to 3 bar operating pressure, suitable for open expansion. The type of copper cylinder varies from Direct to Indirect, Dual Coil and Triple Coil and may be insulated or painted according to customer specification.

The company operates a quality policy and every copper cylinder is individually tested and certified by the quality controller. Every copper cylinder performs to the requirements of the operating conditions of I.S. or B.S. 699.

 

Factory Insulated

All Lycris Byrne insulated copper cylinders are insulated by our in-house insulation department using fire retardant H.F.C. FREE rigid polyurethane foam.

We are approved manufacturers of copper cylinders for E.S.B.'s Gold Shield energy efficient homes and each of these copper cylinders carries the E.S.B. Gold Shield Award.

Direct Copper Cylinder - heated by back boiler or immersion only. A direct cylinder has -

  • 1" direct tappings
  • 1" cold feed
  • 2 1/4" immersion heater flange and plug

Indirect copper cylinder

Indirect Copper Cylinder

Indirect Copper Cylinder - heated by oil or gas central heating. An indirect cylinder has -

  • 1" heating coil
  • 1" cold feed
  • 2 1/4" immersion heater flange and plug
  • 1" expansion
Dual coil copper cylinder

Dual Coil or Twin Coil Copper Cylinder - heated by oil or gas central heating A dual coil or twin coil cylinder has -

  • 2 x 1" heating coil
  • 1" cold feed
  • 2 1/4" immersion heater flange and plug
  • 1" expansion

Direct/Indirect Copper Cylinder

These cylinders may be heated by back boiler, electric immersion heater and by oil or gas boiler. A direct/indirect cylinder comes complete with -

"GOLD SHIELD"*COPPER CYLINDER -
heated by electric immersion heaters only, usually on special 'Night Rate' tariff.
A "Gold Shield"* cylinder has -

  • A minimum 40mm of rigid insulation foam
  • 2 side entry 11" x 3kW immersion heaters
  • 1" cold feed
  • 1" expansion

Rapid Recovery Indirect Copper Cylinder

Rapid Recovery Indirect Copper Cylinder -
heated by oil or gas central heating.
An Indirect cylinder has -

  • 1" heating coil with rapid recovery (depending on heating source)
  • 1" cold feed
  • 2 1/4" immersion heater flange and plug
  • 1" expansion
Anode A sacrificial anode is put in a cylinder to prolong the life of the cylinder in areas with aggressive water.
Grade 3 Cylinders Suitable for Reservoir supply only - 7.5 metre head - 20 psi. For use with open expansion systems only.
Grade 2 Cylinders Suitable for well supply or "group scheme" - 11 metre head - 40 psi. For use with open expansion systems only.
Grade 1 Cylinders Suitable for well supply or "group scheme" - 15 metre head - 60 psi. For use with open expansion systems only.
